RIVER & SEA ACTIVITIES FROM THE GUEST HOUSE

Christchurch is uniquely situated on the shores of its own harbour, into which the Rivers Stour and Avon run.

TAKE A VINTAGE FERRY

Three to choose from:

  • Open sit-in ferry runs from Tuckton Tea Gardens (5 min walk from house) to Mudeford Spit via Wick Ferry and Christchurch Quay. Ferry runs daily from during British Summer Time to end of October.
    40-45 mins one way.
  • Wick Ferry from Captain’s Club (10 min walk from the house) provides a short crossing to Wick village. 5 mins each way. This ferry has been operating from medieval times. From Wick, you can walk to Hengistbury Head along the Stour riverbank. Runs daily during BST to end of October. Also, winter weekends and Mondays for Christchurch Market.
  • Mudeford Ferry between Mudeford Quay and Mudeford Sandspit (a ten-minute drive from the Guest House). Operating daily during BST, winter weekends and school holidays.

There are various places locally to launch from if you are bringing your own board or kayak.
