I believe that our stay at the Stour Lodge Guest House was one of the best 'bed & breakfast' experiences we ever have had. Vince and Janet, the proprietors of the guest house, were friendly & welcoming and could not have been more accommodating, providing us with local information and doing everything to make our stay pleasant & convenient. The breakfasts were excellent. If we ever return to Christchurch we would not hesitate to book a stay at the Stour Lodge Guest House.
Tips for other travellers
I would recommend a stroll along the riverside between Bridge Street and Place Mill. Explore the ruins of the Castle Keep and the Constable's House in the grounds of The Priory. A visit to the charming Red House Museum in Quay Road is also recommended. If you plan a trip to Bournemouth which is only a short bus/car ride away, I would urge you to visit the fascinating Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum on the East Cliff. A walk through the gardens which run through the centre of Bournemouth from the Lower Gardens to the Upper Gardens is also worthwhile. Near Christchurch, there is a wonderful stretch of sandy beach at Mudeford (Avon Beach) which is particularly suitable for young children. In Christchurch itself, we had a good meal at the Loch & Quay in Church Street.
